Catfish are on the chew at Santa Ana River Lakes
The catfish bite continues to be strong at Santa Ana River Lakes. Some of the highlights for the week, Justin Ezaki & Kaleen Pierce caught 10 catfish totaling 22 pounds fishing with mackerel off a pontoon boat near “The Road”. The biggest catfish for the week weighed in at 8 pounds, caught by Robert Fuller of L.A. using a shrimp/marshmallow combo under the shady tree. 
David Rochin of Fullerton caught 8 catfish totaling 18 pounds using both shrimp & mackerel from a boat. Eric Houston of Irvine caught 3 big catfish totaling 12 1/2 pounds using shrimp at the rock quarry. 20 pound sturgeon caught at Corona Lake
Corona Lake continues to be Southern California’s favorite local fishing spot. In addition to the hot catfish bite, the sturgeon always seem to be caught around this time of year. 
Silvera Grant of Altadena caught a 20 pound sturgeon using a night-crawler at the dam. Philip & Dominic of Pomona caught 12 catfish & 4 tilapia totaling 34 1/2 pounds using mackerel by the boat dock. Eric Fennell of Compton caught 8 catfish totaling 18 pound 8 ounces using shrimp from a boat. Joe Garcia of Corona caught 5 catfish totaling 17 1/2 pounds, his largest catfish weighed in at 9 pounds. Joe was using mackerel soaked in Eagle Claw gravy at J.D.’s point.
