78 POUND MONSTER CATFISH STOCKED INTO SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES
SARL’S BIG catfish opener was May 15-16-17 and to kick off the event we stocked some HUGE MONSTER CATFISH including 1 catfish named “Bluezilla” that weighed in at 78 pounds.
We even tagged this monster catfish so that the angler who catches and safely releases Bluezilla will win a float tube ! Although no one successfully landed Bluezilla stories of line snapping fish circled the lake.

Santiago Palacios of Covina fished the entire weekend and ended up with 32 catfish totaling 45 pounds using a mealworm & marshmallow combination. Santiago used the time to move all around the 3 lake complex. Jason Cho of Anaheim checked in a 8 pound 8 ounce catfish and a 6 pound 2 ounce catfish using shrimp at Levitz corner.
Santa Ana River Lakes is currently stocking catfish every Friday and is open 7 days a week for both day & night fishing. 24 hour camping/overnight fishing is scheduled for every Friday & Saturday night, 5pm to 4pm the next day during the summer.
