19 1/2 pound catfish caught at Santa Ana River Lakes
Even with trout season approaching rapidly the big catfish are still on the chew. 
Rambo Tatum of Lakewood landed a 19 1/2 pound catfish using shrimp & marshmallow combo from a boat. Jose Camacho & Salvador Juarez Mission Viejo caught 10 catfish totaling 24 pounds 8 ounces using shrimp at the Pump House. Mike Ortiz of Anaheim caught 5 catfish totaling 14 pounds using mackerel soaked in Eagle Claw gravy fishing at “The Road”. Beautiful bass caught at Corona Lake
Corona Lake is known for its heavy stockings of catfish in the summer and trout in the winter, but some anglers would be surprised that its actually a great lake for catching other species including bass, crappie, bluegill & even sturgeon. 
Randy Muirhead of Lake Elsinore caught & released a 7 pound 10 ounce bass using a rubber worm from a float tube down by the dam. David Allen of Corona caught 7 catfish totaling 36 pounds 8 ounces, with his largest cat at 11 pounds. David was using mackerel from a boat back in the sticks. Mike Bradshaw caught 5 catfish totaling 20 pounds using mackerel from a boat. Ron Gay of Corona caught a 6 pound 8 ounce catfish using a mealworm from shore.
