AUGUST 8, 2013 – TEAM LGE – SARL REPORT

So, this week the fish moved from where they were last week at SARL (read previous reports). Once again I grabbed my trusty tube, my bait and set out in search of the Feline Fish. I was metering fish all over from Levitz to La Palma but they weren’t biting. Then, I kicked over a very saturated area that was dense with fish. Where was this spot? Well it was half way between the Road and half way to… the Boat Dock on that side of the Lake. I was kicking all up and down that side of the Lake and had my Midday Session limit under an hour. The Whiskers were on the chew. So what did I use?
1) Shrimp (half)
2) Anise flavored Marshmallows
3) 1/8th Ounce sliding sinker
4) 1/0 Eagle Claw preleadered
5) Garlic Gravy *Special Sell at tackle Shop*

AUGUST 6, 2013 – TEAM LGE – SARL REPORT

That’s right guys it’s fishing report time.

ROCHIN - TEAM LGE - SARL 8-6-13

Senior Team LGE Member David Rochin and I were back at the Catfish Lake at SARL. Armed with my fresh shrimp and David with his mac, we head out in our tubes. ESPINOSA - TEAM LGE - SARL 8-6-13I was marking tons of fish in the midd…le of the Cat Lake. I mean STACKS! From my meter readings, there was about 3 feet of solid fish in pockets all over the lake. Both on the bottom, but also I was noticing that they were about 1 foot off the bottom especially. So what I was doing is dropping my bait all the way to the bottom, then reeling in about 2 feet off the bottom and I was getting hit on the retrieval. That’s how I got my biggest if the day at 4 pounds. So, in conclusion,

1) MIDDLE OF CATFISH LAKE
2) FRESH SHRIMP
3) 6 INCH LEADER
4) OFF BOTTOM but also 1 FOOT OFF THE BOTTOM

JULY 30, 2013 – TEAM LGE – CORONA LAKE REPORT

So I wanted to check out the Cat bite before our CATFISH TOURNAMENT August 3rd. I grabbed my fresh shrimp and took a boat out to bang out some Whiskers. I love fishing the tree line at Corona Lake and I wanted to see if the cats were holdin…g out in the trees. Well I was right! They were hiding in the shadows of the trees     and by casting right in front of the trees was the hot ticket. What they do is they hide under the trees, sometimes in between the big roots of the trees and wait for something to eat. So, by casting right in front of a tree causes the Cats to come out of hiding to investigate the bait and POW they hit it! If you Hook Up fishing the trees,   RULE NUMBER 1: MAKE SURE TO PULL THE FISH AWAY FROM THE TREES! Once the fish know they are hooked, they run straight back to the trees, which means your stuck! Keep rod tip pointed away from the trees. This time I used a 6 inch leader with a 1/4 ounce and 10 pound test for my set up. Why would I use such a small sinker? Because when fishing in the trees at Corona Lake, you will come across tons of natural structure, so having a heavy weight will only get you caught up. So, yes GOOD LUCK this weekend at the CATFISH TOURNAMENT! STAY BENT MY FRIENDS.
